The Cooper folding kayak is simple to assemble, easy to handle, and swift on the water--making it our most popular kayak! The stability and tracking are exceptional, and still the size of the Cooper's beam allows for rolling by the experienced paddler. A kayak your friends will envy. The Folbot Cooper includes the backpack and footpegs.

An economical foldable kayak.  Easy to install and pack, lightweigt.  Tracking performance is not good, inclines to right side.  Steppads is not functional when using steering system.  Good choice for beginnner and for short trip of travellers, but not suitable to medium and higher levels of kayakers.

Excellent Kayak August 25, 2013

I took this kayak on a five day trip and it was awesome! Once you get the hang of setting it up it is no big deal. I was impressed by the portability and by the capacity for putting gear inside and on top. I will say that I had to be cautious when running up to concrete landings but it is still tough and I had no problems with it. Overall it was a great trip and provided an easy set up and break down.

True to Their Word August 18, 2013

I bought my Cooper a year ago, and have already logged over a 150 hours of paddling time with it.  I've done everything from short day paddles to a 2.5 week 350 mile expedition.  I've used it on rivers, estuaries, marshes, and lakes ranging from a few square miles to over 31000 sq mi.

Folbot's Cooper is exactly what it advertises to be.  It is a reliable, skin-on-frame, foldable kayak.  It is designed to fill a specific niche; it is not a substitute for a rigid hull kayak, nor is it a fancy inflatable.

As a kayak, I find it remarkably stable; it tracks well, and is quite comfortable.  Yet one of its best selling points is undoubtedly its customer service. They have listened to my complaints, responded to my questions, sent additional parts for free, and have worked with me on every detail no matter how minor.  Anybody who seriously contemplates buying a vessel they will trust their lives to cannot underestimate the value of a company that stands so fully behind their work.

Simply put, the Cooper is the best folding sea kayak in the touring class for the money. Hands down.

I now own three Folbots: A Cooper, a model year 2000 Greenland II and a Citibot.

With the Cooper I can keep up with any of my hardshell-owning friends. It tracks well, especially with the rudder. It is fast, lightweight and fairly lightweight to lug around unassembled in its carry bag (which was re-designed a few years ago and is superb).

While born and raised in panhandle Florida I have spent the last 13 years living in Manhattan, New York. We sold our car and thus most of my paddling is from launches either within walking distance of my home in Hells Kitchen along the Hudson or by taking the Subway or train.

The Cooper is far more practical to do this with than my G II. And it is easier to store in the closet of a Manhattan apartment.

Please see my longer review on the Folbot Forum for far more detail.
